Dried Herbs

    We’ve recently received a question from a member: Do businesses that sell for-profit dried herbs need to use a commercial kitchen or can they prep and dry them at their home?

    A discussion of Dried Herbs and the Cottage Food requirements, composed by Ed Evanson of the Department of Health and Human Services can be found here.  The quick summary is dried herbs are exempt at retail, so there is no need for cottage food registration.  If wholesaling, they need a license.  In either case the goal is a pathogen free product.
